Ugh, it’s a Friday night and I can’t go out. Apart from being too lazy to travel a good hour to get to the clubbing spots, I’m flat broke these days. And when you see your friends’ Facebook updates saying how excited they are to go out, or when they send you SMS invites and you reply that you can’t tag along, it takes frustration to a whole different level.
Being the type of person I am, I am not to be outdone. I decided to make my own clubbing experience tonight in the comfort of my own bedroom. So I gathered what was necessary, locked the door, took off my shirt and enjoyed myself to my own version of Friday night clubbing - home edition.

The Improvised Clubbing Set-up |
(a) Darkness: Dim the lights. Turn on your night light or flashlights. This will create the necessary dark setting that makes strangers fumble and do sinful things when going out. Lucky for me, I have a little lava lamp that provided the necessary disco-ey ambience.
(b) Alcohol: No clubbing trip would be complete without alcohol. Just take whatever alcohol you have at home, light beer, wine, whatever works. Our choice of poison for tonight: unlimited shots of Don Enrique Tequila, which my sister bought for me a few days ago. (Yey!) Alcohol, check! Drink ‘til your liver bleeds. No tab or plastic needed.
(c) Music and Sound: Get your music player and speaker and crank up a party playlist. Satisfy your auditory need for whatever music that will get you in the dancing mood. As for me, tonight will be filled with Black-Eyed Peas and Usher songs from my ipod, to name a few. And don’t forget to dance! Dance stupidly! Dance naked! Nobody’s looking anyway.
(d) Extra Beverage: or “pambanlaw/ chaser” as street slang would call it. When your system gets infused with too much alcohol, this little non-alcoholic beverage will be your lifesaver. It dials down the alcohol aftertaste and in effect, increases your alcohol stamina so you can stay sober longer. As for me, I have A&W Root Beer from the refrigerator downstairs.
(e) Food: or “pulutan” in kanto speak. Just how the extra beverage lessens the umay factor, it introduces a distraction for your taste buds and a relief for your stomach linings when you have one too many. Too little, and you’ll get drunk faster and too much would cause indigestion, so a word of caution: consume in moderation. Just raid your frige and take whatever edible, non-salty food you have there. My personal choice of pulutan this evening is left-over pizza from downstairs. Yum.
(f) Miscellaneous: Visual entertainment, as some clubs sport a big plasma LCD, I chose to mimic the effect with my netbook. It really depends on your clubbing desire.
There you have it, the complete bar experience without the unnecessary hassles. One good thing about it is once you get drunk, you can just close your eyes and collapse on your own bed, presto! You don't have to worry about how to get home alive or whose place to crash for the evening.
So who says I have to spend a quiet Friday night?
If you can’t go to the club, bring the club with you.
Time to dance!
